I found these economists guilty of providing the Queen, prime ministers and chancellors, but also the citizenry – including millions of

investors - with dangerously misleading guidance.

(My comment) The discipline of economics has created the sort of tragedy described above

because it is like an unusually fanatical religious cult whose main axioms are unsupported by any evidence. When this is demonstrated (for example

the disastrous effects of incentive bonuses in banking or targets in public services), the effect is to make the believers even more fervent and

repeat the same mistakes over and over again. This is pathological behaviour. It may explain the indifference of the ruling class.

Thank you subrosa for your comment....I can only imagine the stress that you and your partner are living through....and

wonder if those that helped create this mess are at all aware of stories such as yours.....

Aye - it's the Queens fault. Can we claw back her pension?

Excellent post Ann. As the partner of someone who has lost his life savings in the Kaupthing, Singer and

Friedlander Isle of Man collapse, I have been watching events closely. Thankfully we never had joint accounts or we would both be on the streets.

We met in later life and we decided he would sell his property and live in mine. No prizes for guessing where the proceeds from his £500,000+

property went.
